Travel and Photography
Ready for a story?
The best parts of growing up happened outside. Between camping, hiking, sports, and scouts, if it involved the outdoors, I was excited! Even when indoors, I’d glue myself to the Travel and History Channels to pretend that was me scaling Patagonian peaks or exploring ancient Rome. I didn’t realize it then but that’s how my travel cravings began.
In 2009 just after high school graduation, my friends and I took a road trip through ten national parks. The entire trip was captured on a tiny Olympus Stylus. That’s when I knew I had to travel as much as possible while photographing it all. However, that mindset warmed the bench between the years of college and a demanding career. Weekend trips happened, but for a kid dreaming of Nat Geo assignments, growing up to work in a cubicle was a bummer. Then I bought a Sony a6000 in 2015. I already aimed to visit every national park, but now I had to photograph them as well. I began traveling further and longer. Photography became a reason to explore deeper on every trip. In August of 2023 I upgraded to a Sony A7IV and began traveling the world with my girl friend, Chandni Patel.
Every city, town, person, and park is unique. That makes anything and everything my photography subject. I don’t shoot just to share my story. I shoot hoping you’ll be inspired to go discover a story of your own. So if you are ready to see my story, please click here to visit my photography portfolio or click here to read my ongoing travel blog. Follow along with Chandni and I to share the world through my lens.
Outside of Photography
I was born in Dallas, graduated from UT Austin, and became a civil engineer in San Antonio, TX. That path introduced me to wonderful people and cultures across Texas. My goal is to visit every National Park Service site and I’m happily making my way through them all. I’ve visited over 250 out of just over 420 parks with a plan to close that gap soon! When I’m not traveling you’ll still find me exploring, but it’s probably food or film related. I’m a mad scientist in the kitchen and sometimes even a successful one. Even if life is rough I make sure it always tastes good! I’m also a huge cinema lover and have seen thousands more films than is healthy for a non-critic. Want to banter about a film or share food recs? Maybe you want travel tips or National Park info? Or do you dare to incorrectly argue that Fellowship of the Ring wasn’t the best of the trilogy?!
